What my father ordered...
Mildly perplexed yet? Excellent. While this may be an uncommon site for some, I sort of grew up around beeswax. While this might not directly relate to my current job search, it will certainly relate to my new life back at the old homestead.
To begin the explanation of why I would post such a picture of a large hexagonal piece of beeswax, we have to go back my elementary school days. I went to a VERY strange elementary school, where I am 99% sure they didn’t teach me to read or write until 3rd grade. We spent the mornings learning about gnomes and woodland creatures, and the afternoon learning eurythmy and how to knit recorder cases. Yes, this was my childhood. Every morning we had a candle lighting ceremony and sang songs (in English, though we also learned German and French beginning in 1st grade). However, these candles, and many other objects, were made out of beeswax. It has a very distinct smell, and oddly enough my father got into the whole beeswax scene, and bought a large block of it back in the day at the farmer’s market. We make fun of him for it, because he also bought a book “101 Things You Can Do With Beeswax!”
Well today my father ordered another two large blocks of beeswax, and the smell brought me right back to where I was 17 years ago. Bittersweet, as I enjoyed my childhood but didn’t fare too well at that school (who the fuck would!?). Good times, good times.
